We invite you to discover our art: Shoemaking process

At Open House, we specialize in crafting handmade shoes for men and women who love fashion and always look elegant. Our team includes experts who put their passion and love into every shoe they make.

To make a pair of shoes, the factory must consist of six areas: cutting, roughing, trimming, weaving, preforming, and finishing. Each area processes a specific part of the shoe.

In the cutting area, one of our artisans is in charge of gathering all the materials we need to make the shoe. Once he has the leather, threads, soles, and hardware, he proceeds to cut the leather. This is done with a template that has the shape and size of the shoe.

In the next area, another artisan roughens the leather to make it thinner and easier to handle. This helps ensure all the folds are shaped correctly, allowing the shoes to be sewn.

The stitching process begins in the shoe's shape, where the sole is fully joined to the leather. Next, in the weaving area, a craftswoman hand-knits the welt, which connects the upper and sides of the shoe. During this process, some shoe decorations are also woven, depending on the model.

In the preforming area, the shoes are shaped. This requires fitting a last and hammering some parts. The shoe is then taken to a special shoe oven, which stiffens the leather to prevent it from deforming.

In the final stage, the shoes are taken for finishing, where the final decorations are added, such as laces, bows, ribbons, and more. They are also cleaned and treated with a special additive for each type of leather.

Once the shoes are made, we pack them and ship them to your doorstep. Each pair of shoes is made exclusively for the customer who purchased them, so we guarantee you a shoe in your exact size.

This is our art and today we wanted to share it with you.
